For Black History Month I started an art challenge called #BAMruary. I invited the world to participate in celebrating Black History Month through sharing their talents. The challenge was to create one piece of art for each day of the month while honoring something about Black Awareness.

I focused on portraits which included historical figures, influential individuals and fictional characters of the African Diaspora- primarily of the Afro-Latinx descent. I can proudly say that I upheld and completed the challenge with flying colors along with other talented folks who brought their own flair.

​Silhouettes are a useful method for designing your characters. They help make them as distinct as possible.  In the above video I go over how to draw the head using silhouette shapes then building upon them.

1. Silhouette is the first thing to focus on to make your character unique. Comic characters have to be recognizable in any circumstance, framing, and lighting so having strong well defined shapes are a must!


2. After you are satisfied with your silhouette work within that general shape and add to their personality.
