Keeping Creativity Alive: A Bold Journey interview with Carlos “Loso” Perez

I had a wonderful sit down with Bold Journey Magazine to talk about creativity, intellectual property and what drives the mission of PVS.

We had a deep dive conversation about developing and sustaining a creative ecosystem, the importance of owning your narrative and creating lasting longevity around your work as an independent artist.

Key Takeaways from the Interview:
  • "Growing CROPS" (Chain Reactions Of Progressive Sequences): Prime Vice Studios missions stems from  this core mantra. It’s the idea that every intentional, creative action sets off a ripple effect of continuous growth and progress. I strive to do this with all of my work.
  • Creativity as a Daily Practice: To me, creativity as a muscle. In order to train those muscles one needs a dedicated space that isn’t constrained by outside rules. In other words —a creative laboratory where inspiration can thrive.
  • The 3 Pillars of Sustainable Success:
    1. IP Literacy & Ownership: I believe understanding intellectual property transforms creativity from a skill into a tool for empowerment. This means treating your work like an asset from day one.
    2. Self-Belief & Resilience: To me, the only real security is self-security. Taking total accountability for your path prevents you from giving your power away to external validation.
    3. Community & Collaboration: Art in a vacuum is too solitary. Shifting focus from "What can I get?" to "What can I build with others?” is much more fulfilling.

What’s Next for Prime Vice Studios:

Some exciting milestones on the horizon for PVS were also touched upon:
  • Comic Creation Classes: Teaching sequential art for teens and adults at the Ben Robertson Community Center this fall.
  • Commissions for A Cause: Partnering back up with The Sid Foundation to raise funds and awareness for lung transplant research.
  • 10-Year Anniversary Milestone: Publishing and launching our very own magazine, Kackle™.
