The PVS Virtual Internship Program

In today’s industry landscape many art students are hard-pressed to find opportunities to gain real world experience and training to supplement their higher education and career development. Prime Vice Studios has established its Virtual Internship Program to give opportunity to talented students who wish to gain valuable experience and/ or earn academic credit for their efforts.

This interview series seeks to highlight our interns, share their testimonials and assist them on their creative journey

About The Creator

Anna is a freelance artist born and raised in Suwanee, Georgia. With a love for visual story telling and Illustration, She is currently getting her bachelors in illustration, along with working on her story “Gray Area”
Thank you so much for providing your testimonial. Our readers want to know you a bit better. Tell us about yourself and what you would like the world to know about you as an artist/ creator.

I am a person who loves getting completely sucked into the process and feeling of creating art. For as long I could remember, I had always had a calling to the beauty and expression that art gave me. I wish to inspire others and create engaging content with my own experiences and feelings. Being in Marietta and going to art school, I hope now I'm in the right direction to connect and express myself as an Illustrator.

PVS Internship Experience

Why did you do an internship with PVS?

I wanted to do an internship with PVS because I wanted to gain experience working with professional artists, as well as having to ability to learn how to develop my own IP as a freelancer.

What was your experience like in the internship?

I had a very positive and informative experience at PVS! Since starting, I have been able to make a lot of progress on fleshing out my story and characters, while having freedom and flexibility on what I needed to do. I was able to network with professional artists at Syndicate Comics and even got commission work out of it! I really enjoyed the laid back and informative time I had!

Pivotal Moments of the Internship

We often learn the most from our mistakes. Can you share one that you made that turned out to be one of the most valuable lessons you’ve learned?

During this internship, I was able to get commissioned work from one of the workshops at Syndicate Comics. However, I completed the commission incorrectly and I was very worried about what to do. I was able to persevere and finish the commission correctly. Not only did it teach me on how to be communicative with commission work, it boosted my confidence with dealing with difficult art situations.

Can you share a pivotal moment when you realized that the internship was actually making a significant impact in your life?

I think I truly saw the impact the internship had when I looked back on all of the concept art I had completed. For the longest time this story was just a nice idea that I never really expressed with others. Now thanks to the workshops and feedback, I have an actual lore bible and much stronger ideas on how to move forward with my work.

Vision For The Future

Imagine we’re sitting down together two years from now or further looking back. What specific accomplishments would have to happen for you to be happy with your progress?

For me to be happy with my progress , I would’ve had to at least make more progress with the story, creating an actual strong outline of my story along with more concept art of environments and styles.

What do you hope your art/ IPs  will do in the world?

I hope that my art will give people the same sense of wonder, fun and comfort that art has done for me.

Advice For Creators & Future Interns

Anna, who would you recommend for this internship for?

I would definitely recommend this internship to artists who have original characters and stories and would like to learn how to flesh them out and create them.

Can you help articulate a few of the benefits?

I believe this internship can give a lot of helpful feedback and guidance on how to properly articulate and create your story. The internship can also give a lot of help building an artist profile and provides events that can help artists network with others.

What advice would you give to interested students?

My advice to anyone who wants to do this internship is to stay on task and be communicative. This internship is very good, but you'll get the most out of it if you do your best to do the most you can. This includes going to comic workshops, discussing/taking feedback on your story or art, and completing both the expected and bonus assignments.

Final Thoughts & Follow Up

What type of clients, audience do you want to connect with or work for?

I want to connect with people who feel the same joy and freedom that art has given me. I'd love to work with people who have a story or message to tell and give them the joy of that idea becoming a reality.

This was great Anna. Thanks for taking time for us to learn more about you and your art. We wish you continued success!
