This week's how to session focuses on drawing profiles or the head in side view.
Drawing profiles1-Draw the head shape first then put in the guidelines to position the main features 2-Draw a center line to position the ears 3-Draw a line across the middle of the head to position the eyes 4-Draw the hairline halfway between the eyes & top of the head 5-Position the nose halfway between the eyes and chin 6-The mouth goes halfway between the nose and chin Notice* The most distinguishable features of any cartoon are the hair, eyes, nose & mouth As you draw more profiles become familiar with the outlines or contours of the face
The forehead pushes out with a big curve from the hairline towards the eyes
The eye sockets recede The nose pushes forward with a big sweep The upper lip, lower lip and chin make sharp angles When you have a handle on the guidelines and are familiar with the features play with different shapes to create different expressions
Thanks for checking out this week's mini lesson. Hope you found this useful.

I liked that. I've spent decades drawing portraits but never broke it down the way you have. Of course, animation is another animal all by itself and the rules are really convenient. Thank you for sharing.
