This year we participated in an awesome event that brought together community, good will, and fun! The Sid Foundation hosted a comic book signing and fundraiser at Syndicate Comics. The Sid Foundation is a non-profit organization that raises funds and awareness for lung transplant patients. One of the ways they fundraise is through the sale of comic books and merch featuring their original character Lung Girl. PVS has worked with The Sid Foundation on the original character design for Lung Girl, comic production and overall IP development of their franchise. Ananya is the writer of the series while Loso is the illustrator of the second and third issues of the comic series. For Lung Girl Day the goal was to do an official book signing for the comics. Syndicate Comics have been gracious enough to sell copies of Lung Girl comics since November of last year and made it possible for this event to happen at their space. Along with being the first official book signing for Lung Girl Comics this event was also a fundraiser (not solely based on the sales of comics). PVS friend and fellow colleague Jorge Santiago Jr. volunteered his time and art. We also had our interns Morgan Eaves and Koale McKenzie and young apprentice Ani volunteer their time and donate their art. All artists took on commissions during the event and created original art upon request. We invited other artists to participate virtually for #commisssionsforacause. MM Comics and Collectibles, a husband and wife duo donated their time and effort to help us raise fund through WhatNot. We raised $500 for The Sid Foundation in 4 hours. The event was a combined community effort and would not have been possible without efforts of everyone involved.
